O que para os levianos parecerá ser falta de amor-próprio ou inacção, para Nós, os Portugueses, é tão somente uma atitude de adaptação às situações adversas – vergar para não quebrar - e, por tal, Portugal preserva a sua identidade e independência intactas há quase um milénio, sendo a nação com a autonomia e fronteiras mais antigas da Europa.

As pequenas obras desmobilizam-nos e causam-nos inércia. A coisa vulgar e comezinha não nos galvaniza. É em torno dos grandes planos e dos projectos mais ambiciosos que nos reunimos e fomentamos os grandes empreendimentos e ideias.

Small works demobilize us and cause us inertia. The vulgar and common thing does not galvanize us. It is around the greatest plans and the most ambitious projects that we gather and foster the greatest undertakings and ideas.
